The Avenue Dental Centre in Windsor offers patients digital x-ray services to help target complications early to determine the best possible treatment options.

What is a digital x-ray?

Digital x-rays are technologically advanced x-rays which store the image of the x-ray in digital format. Digital x-rays are faster and more comfortable for our patients.

Additionally, your x-rays are digitally stored in our system and can be viewed and enlarged for reference by our team at any time during your care. This technology helps us to provide you with excellent results, as we are able to both detect problems early, as well as monitor your treatment and progress carefully and precisely.

Are digital x-ray’s safe?

Dental x-rays are deemed safe by any known standard. All x-rays produce some amount of radiation. However, digital dental x-rays produce a much lower level of radiation than traditional x-rays (using x-ray film) do. The team at our office will always take every precaution to ensure you are exposed to the least amount of radiation possible, including use of a lead apron and taking x-rays only as necessary.

Why are dental x-rays necessary?

Dental professionals rely on x-rays to view things in your mouth that they cannot see during a visual examination. X-rays give dentists the ability to detect problems such as tooth decay, damage to the bones which support the teeth, and dental injuries, like broken tooth roots, earlier than they would be able to with a visual examination.

What will my dentist see on my digital x-ray?

A digital x-ray is an important assessment tool for our dental team.

By using digital x-rays, our staff can detect a wide variety of problems in your mouth, including early tooth decay, bone loss, problems below the gum line, cysts, abscesses, tumours, or impacted teeth.

How often do I need a digital x-ray?

Your dentist will tell you during your appointment if a digital x-ray is necessary. If an x-ray is recommended, it can be performed during your appointment and the images will be immediately available. This immediate result gives our team the information they need to provide you with the best treatment available.
